Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
Yes, I am a little worried. The school sent a letter telling me to read the advice of the NHS, the British government, the French government, and the AEFE. His school isn't back until next week, and the Caribbean/NYC aren't infected areas, but how would we know who was on the three long haul flights he's taken this half term? Yesterday he saw a car exhibition at the V&A so lots of tourists from foreign shores there.
My feelings have gone from 'whatever, if you get it you get it and I don't eat Chinese food anyway' to 'not feeling all that comfortable trapped on an island overseen by the likes of Hancock and Patel'. That said, I've taken no precautions that I wouldn't anyway - covering your mouth if coughing, no gobbing on the street, etc. We've still been out and about, eating out, using public transport, etc...
AEFE mentions limiting your time spent in restaurants and cinemas. We haven't done anything like that and hadn't been planning to cut down. We don't use alcohol sanitary wipes, and won't be - at home I have a few ancient antiquities, a lacquered screen, silk hangings etc that need very gentle care and can't just be splashed with any old stuff. Who knows. Back to 'if you get it you get it'.

I have a lot to worry about at present.
This is not one of them.

There's been a case here in Essex!
It's not me
A spokesman for the Department of Health and Social Care said it was not disclosing any more information, such as where abouts in Essex the patient is from
It's not me
Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
The leader of Fanchester Council has issued a weirdly specific denial that the case is in Fanchester.

It might be Priti Patel or Mark Francois.

Now just a month away from seeing Timothee Chalamet on stage in 4000 Miles, I'm very worried about all these cancellations and travel bans that have been coming into force across the world. I have quite literally been counting down the days to this event in excitement.
I'm more than happy to sign a waiver to get into the theatre, and self isolate for a fortnight immediately after. I really think I might cry hot tears of heartbreak if the theatres are forced to close before my scheduled and highly anticipated evening with Timmy.

Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
I've been dying to go to Bucharest for a weekend, particularly to tour the private home of the Ceaucescu monsters. My new book on the children of 20th century dictators includes a great section on those three.
Return flights are sub £50 and everything else is equally bargain priced. I can't justify booking it because I don't want to find myself locked in quarantine in a Romanian public health facility. It's all so inconvenient.

Could the world be so wicked as to keep this away from me? I just have to hope not.
Since before Christmas I've had a daily alert on my phone to display how many weeks, days, and hours it is until that curtain goes up.

Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
Well, RIP and all that, etc.
Advice from The Old Vic still the same as yesterday. If they do need to postpone/cancel I hope they emphasise the motivation is to protect Timmy, and not those of us who'd quite happily risk being ventilated in ICU to see him perform.

Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
I feel really sorry for all those who have beloved but frail relatives and friends in nursing homes and hospitals, who are faced with the prospect of being locked out. I understand why but when all you'd want to do is see them, that would be torture.
Particularly hard for those whose person has dementia. The changes can be so rapid it's only through regular visits and quality time that you can (repeatedly) reassure them they haven't been abandoned. An absolutely horrible position to be in.

I'm not great with induced heat products. I once mistook the lotion form of deep heat for facewash when staying at a friends house.

Re: Coronavirus :dontpanic:
Today's communication from the school states that the British and French government advice is broadly similar. A list of countries and French departments is provided with a request to remain home and contact the school, even if any close relatives or servants have been in contact with those who've been there since a list of dates.

Yes, I've made a paper loss of £800, and a real one of £40, because one fund is being closed and returning investors' money.
It could have been much worse, I sold the bulk of my investments four weeks ago after that false rumour of a vaccine. Best investing decision I ever made.
Meanwhile, in my local Tescos on the way home
