Re: The Beach Boys - Holland (1973)
Incidentally, this album (only 33 minutes long) has a bonus 7" EP.
It's called Mount Vernon and Fairway (A Fairy Tale).
A 12-minute musical fairy tale that was included as an EP with Holland.
It was primarily composed by Brian Wilson and narrated by manager Jack Rieley, with Wilson providing the voice of the Pied Piper.
It is one of the most baffling records ever devised and recorded.
At once completely bizarre and jaw-droppingly dreadful.
It remains an, ahem... unique recording.
Brian was apparently quite upset when the rest of band when they didn't want it released as part of the main LP.
Once listened to you will see that the band were right.

Re: The Beach Boys - Holland (1973)
This is also the second, and last, album to feature Blondie Chaplin and Ricky "Stig O'Hara from The Rutles" Fataar from the South African band Flame.
They were drafted in after Carl saw them in concert in London around 1970.
Oh, and after Dennis had pushed his hand through a plate glass window meaning he could therefore not play drums.

Re: The Beach Boys - Holland (1973)
A quick look at the back cover will give you a fairly good idea of what a cobbled together shambles of a band they were at this time.
Despite this fact however it remains one of their best, most coherent, albeit least Beach Boy-sy albums.

Is Stevie in?
I don't mind pushing it back if he wants to take part, but later...

Someone called Blondie Chaplin is on lead vocals.

Die-hard BB fans reckon that if Brian had sung this it would've been one the bands very best songs.
