Love or Hate?
Re: The Beach Boys - The Beach Boys Love You (1977)
Ludicrous tempo change.

"Tell her she smells good tonight."

This last track is genuinely like a wino at a bus stop singing with a chorus of cats on a fence as backing vocals.

How any of them ever had a relationship with any actual, human, adult women is anyone's guess.

Re: The Beach Boys - The Beach Boys Love You (1977)
It is over.
That was genuinely one of the most cretinous albums I could imagine a group of adults making. It was also a seriously retrograde step for them. However, it didn't bore me like most of the albums we do do, therefore, I approve of it.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

Well.
It's hard to comment objectively.
In fact, it's a bad idea.
Only staunch subjectivity can be applied here.
My only appeal to Wendi is that when you've caught the bug of a particular artist (a pernicious, insidious virus even) then you'll always see something fascinating and good and redemptive and downright wonderful in even their most abject offerings.
Also, having a strong knowledge of the band members and their history helps massively.
The back story to this album is - as with most things Beach Boys - bizarre and fascinating.
I would really recommend reading the Wiki entry to the album.
Anyway, what can I do?
I'm enslaved.
