The living room door just closed. I'm the only one here. It's heavy, and has to be pushed across carpet to move, so it's not the sort of door that accidentally shifts due to a light breeze. It was wide open, and suddenly closed fully and rather forcefully.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
I decided to just barge into the room and own the space. Hopefully that's sorted it out.

I reckon it's a poltergeist released from a haunted teapot in the V&A.
A restorer took the lid off to shake a dead spider out and it was released.

When I had Virgin television installed, I didn't realise it might occasionally start up of its own accord, just to keep whirring away with the odd update or whatever. The first time it happened I was fast asleep - again on my own in the flat - when I woke up to the realization that one of the music channels was inexplicably playing.
I very quietly dressed, very quickly, retrieved the hammer I keep near the bed, and fled downstairs with my mobile. I thought some serial killer had broken in and wanted to lure me into investigating where the music was coming from. The friend who answered told me that his television does the same thing. I was terrified.

We have Westlife here in the Castle park tonight.
I can't hear them though.
I can hear the Lion at the Zoo when I go outside for a ciggie.

I wonder why 'just like riding a bike' is an expression. After about a quarter of a century, I finally got on a bike today - my sons. My hands were covered in black grease before I began.
The seat was ridiculously high, to the extent I had to get up on it using the railings at the side of the street. That was only half successful as a technique due to the bar thing being waist height.
Once on, I wobbled straight into the gutter, where I skinned the side of my hand on the road surface. It's lucky no car was parked at the spot I fell into because the damage might've been expensive.
I'm actually still upset by my experience earlier. I thought cycling about on summer evenings might be an easy, healthy, and fun way to ensure nobody can ever again suggest I've put on weight.

I haven't yet decided to own up to the fact that the scratches and scuffs all over his precious black paintwork were my fault. I thought I might get away with saying 'well, you know you're not meant to chain it to the railings, someone must've banged into it and so you shouldn't have left it there'.

People have the seats insanely high on bikes, these days. I believe the secret to getting on is to stand on the pedals and use them as steps to climb up onto the seat.cosmictanya wrote:The seat was ridiculously high, to the extent I had to get up on it using the railings at the side of the street. This man demonstrates how:

Is there another sodding gig in Hyde Park?
My entire evening has been underpinned by a rumbling, roiling burble of tone deaf bass.

Last night it was Pearl Jam supported by The Pixies.
Why didn't I hear any of that?
