I think mine was something like £8.99, made by the same company as BachyBaby's, but mine has resettable lows and highs displayed on the... display. bowtie

And yes, it'd fit through the letterbox.

Money spent on gas today = £2.05.

Which works out at £2.16 over 24 hours.

This means I've spent £6.33 over the last three days, which works out at £2.11 per day, with the boiler flow temperature at 35 degrees, every room heated all day long and the radiator valves limited to 19 degrees.

Thus, the first half of my Christmas experiment is completed.

Tomorrow, I'm only going to heat whatever room I happen to be in at the time, have a flow temperature of 60 degrees, set the radiator valve at 23 degrees and turn off the heating when I'm in bed.

I will then see how the cost of that compares to the tactic of the last three days.

At last, I shall be able to answer the age-old debate as to whether it's best to maintain a low temperature all day long or a higher temperature when it's needed.

The heating came on at 7:30.

13 pence spent so far but the room's only at 19 degrees which is what it was when I had the heating set to be lower. dontpanic

I've now turned the main thermostat up to 25 degrees to see if I can get the room warmer. scared

The central heating's been going full blast for nearly three and a half hours and it's just about managed to get this room up to 21 degrees.

The one bar heater can get it up to 24 degrees in about 15 minutes. Colbert

I'm giving it one more hour and, if the temperature's still not hit 22 degrees, I'm giving up on it.

I'm going to set the central heating to 14 degrees in every room, the flow temperature back down to 35 degrees and top up the heat in this room, to 19 degrees, with the one bar heater.

Oh that’s a good idea.

I might have to get some anyway - the damp is spreading, while absent owners of other flats are tracked down. It’s insured but it needs renewed, and now I’m worried I should’ve claimed/been in touch with them before the renewal. It’s going to be more difficult if I renew and then immediately ask for tens of thousands of pounds.
