Re: The Weather Thread Part 4.
That is insufficient succour.
This was a tree.
More a human being than most human beings by dint of not being a human being.
It's always very distressing to see an uprooted tree.
I remember the '87 storm.
Me and my friend took his doggy for his normal walk the next morning through Holland Park and we were all profoundly freaked out.
The doggy was especially disturbed.

Re: The Weather Thread Part 4.
Is it a good time to mention we have storms like this 20 times a year in the north?

I was prepared to accept your revised succour-giving, until that last Northern 'soft-southern-gobsh*tes' aside.

It's just a game of one-Wendmanship-up with you, isn't it.

Yeah, she's all like, 'I'm northern and dead hard me, unlike you soft southern big girl's blouses' then something tiny like the power cuts out and she's all posting all about it.

Where I am in the West Midlands it wasn't really much more than a fairly windy and rainy day and quite a few sticks have blown off the currently naked sycamore tree.
I didn't leave the house all day, but then we're all used to these things these days.

And there are clouds that look like they might be getting ready to dump more snow.

So do I. Our shed roof blew away, never to be seen again.
I went to school but was immediately told to go home again by the headmaster himself.

Nice afternoon, sunny, but a bit nippy.

The snow has stopped but the clouds are low and steel grey.

I found all that yesterday quite exciting. As I live quite high up, I was fully prepared for the adventure of death, but survived unscathed. I love the sound of a storm outside when I'm inside.

I'm a bit sick of seeing the floppy haired guy and his dad Daniel, from Brentwood in Essex on the news. Its the same feature on repeat - a panorama of their grounds and garden swimming pool, before homing in on a tree through the roof, a horrified presenter doing a Kate Adie reporting from hell impression, and then an explanation from the owner of how he'd called his stockbroker about the damage.

I remember being 12 floors up in Callow Mount flats when the wind was blowing, and being 17 floors up in Norfolk Park flats when the wind was blowing, and it was a concerning feeling.
